Short answer (checked 8 October 2026): ISO 14001:2026 was published in April 2026 with a 36-month IAF transition. ISO's own page shows ISO 9001's new edition (2026) at the publication stage. ISO 45001:2018 remains current while its revision is at Draft International Standard stage.
| Standard | Status | What it means for certified organisations |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 14001 | ISO 14001:2026 published 15 April 2026; IAF transition of 36 months, with 2015 certificates losing validity on 30 April 2029 (reported by DQS) | Plan transition with your certification body; transition can happen at a surveillance or recertification audit |
| ISO 9001 | ISO lists Edition 6 (2026) at stage 60.00, "under publication" when checked | Watch for the formal publication and the IAF transition resolution before planning changes |
| ISO 45001 | ISO 45001:2018 current; revision (expected as ISO 45001:2027) at DIS stage, publication not expected before April 2027 (reported by SQS) | No action needed yet beyond awareness |
What to do now
- Get a copy of any new edition that applies to you and compare it with your current system.
- Ask your certification body when and how it will audit to the new edition.
- Brief top management: transitions usually require updated risk, context and leadership evidence.
