Certification requirements
What certified organisations agree to, and what BVS commits to in return.
Certified organisations
- Provide accurate application information, including sites, personnel by shift and outsourced processes.
- Give assessors access to sites, people, shifts, records and complaints.
- Implement the requirements of the standard or scheme across the certified scope.
- Address nonconformities within the agreed timescales.
- Inform BVS within 15 days of significant changes (ownership, legal status, sites, scope, headcount, major regulatory action).
- Use certificates and marks as set out in the BVS rules for use of certificates and marks.
- Take part in surveillance and, where required, short-notice audits.
BVS commitments
- Impartial, competent assessment by people free of conflicts of interest.
- Audit time calculated by rule.
- Written plans and reports with traceable evidence.
- Independent technical review and certification decision.
- Confidentiality of all non-public information.
- Fair handling of complaints and appeals.
- Accurate public information on certificate status.
